CRESWELL OR - Designated as Oregon Grand Champion Auctioneer by the Oregon Auctioneer's Association in 2003 and 2005, Jake Cheechov has been involved in auctions much of his life. He was only 13 when he began working for the Creswell Livestock Auction.

While a student at Creswell High School, he won the prestigious FFA State Degree, Oregon FFA's highest honor, and two FFA state proficiency awards, one in dairy production and one in diversified livestock production.

"I learned alot about tractors and heavy equipment in the FFA," he said. "It's something I use every day." For his CHS senior project he organized a benefit auction for the graduating class of 1993.

"Creswell brings back such good memories," Cheechov said. "It was here that I got my first taste of the auction business."

At graduation he won the FFA's Marple Scholarship, which he used to attend the Western College of Auctioneering in Billings, Montana. After graduation, he began working for several other auction companies, selling livestock, and dealer only auto auctions.

In 1999, Cheechov and his wife Amy opened Pacific Industrial Auctions and Appraisals, now recognized as an industry leader in the greater Northwest. PIA holds a heavy equipment auctions quarterly, with millions of dollars in sales annually.
